I am not aware of a tachometer causing a problem with other controllers.
I believe the 1800C had a tach wire from the rear Ignition coil in the harness.
Most problems are tach needle bouncing.
Many problems with aftermarket tachs, the latest best thing to use is the Gray wire from the camshaft position sensor.
