MMR11...Big News!!!

The Midwest Motorcycle Rally is proud to announce the addition of something we have wanted to do since the Rally’s inception.

A live band!

For our final night we are excited to have ‘Free Fallin’, a tribute to Tom Petty. They will be performing outdoors on Saturday, July 23rd at the Settle Inn in La Crosse, WI.

The official MMR11 website is live so please check it out for more details.

As excited as we are to have the band play our rally, I need to mention that there are costs involved.

In the history of the rally we have never asked for donations of any kind, although many of you have offered over the years.

This year, we need your help. Please click the link below to submit a donation of your choosing to help support bringing this awesome live music act to you!

100% of the donations will go towards all costs associated with the band. Including but not limited to permit costs, their fee, travel expenses, setup costs.

Any amount we receive above and beyond will be absorbed back into the rally to help support future events such as this.

Thanks much.

First I would like to thank everyone that has donated thus far. Your support for the rally is greatly appreciated. We have also been able to get a few corporate sponsors to help bring the band to the rally. In all we are about 1/3 of the way to our goal. Once we get what we need to cover the cost of the band, donations will be closed.

A special thanks needs to be given to the Settle Inn. They covered some of the administrative costs I was expecting we would need to cover. (Insurance and permit) Free Fallin’ is also playing this gig at a reduced rate. They typically receive at least double, if not more than what they are getting for this gig. A lot of this has to do for their enthusiasm for motorcycles.

In the next couple of days I will be signing a contract that obligates me personally for this expense. I will also need to put down a deposit. At this point, the deposit is more than we have collected. I don’t mind covering this expense for now because I have faith this is all going to work out, and this will make for one of the most memorable Midwest Motorcycle Rally’s ever!

So please, if you plan on attending the rally, donate what you can today. If you ever have been to a past rally and had a good time, please help. If you own a business and would like to officially sponsor this event, let us know. If you think your employer would be willing to sponsor this, let us know. By the way, please visit our sponsors websites and patronage them if you can. They have done a lot (past and present) to help bring this thing together.

As far as donations go, unfortunately there are no refunds. Free Fallin’ is a professional act and have given us a Saturday night from their busy schedule. It is an outdoor even so there is some risk of inclement weather. If they can’t play, they still get paid. I will be exploring backup indoor venues soon.

I have had a few people ask how much they should donate. Really, just give what you can. Personal donations have ranged from $10-$100 per person. Our corporate sponsors have given at least $200.

If you don’t use PayPal, please message me and I will get you an address to send cash donations to.

Either way, I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and for your consideration.

Hello everyone-

I just wanted to post an update regarding our efforts to bring live music to the MMR.

• The permit had been approved
• The contract is signed and the deposit has been sent
• We have 5 corporate sponsors
• We have received 21 individual donations
• Efforts to find indoor backup venue still ongoing

Here are the numbers:

• $993.90 received from our corporate sponsors
• $712.87 received from individual donations
• $2,500 is the band fee
• We are providing lodging for the band
• We are providing dinner and beverages for the band
• Backup venue deposit (amount unknown)
• Goal amount to cover all mentioned expenses: $3,000
• Amount shy of goal $1,293.23

The books for this were never technically closed but I wanted to reveal the hard numbers so that everyone has a clear picture of where we are at with this. The $3,000 goal was just a rough estimate at the start of this thing. There were some expenses we were expecting to pay for that the Settle Inn GENEROUSLY absorbed. If not for that, I am sure $3,000 would not have been enough.

We are very close and a very big THANKS to all that have donated thus far. We obviously still need help so if you haven’t done so, please donate. It would be great if we can have this all handled before the rally. Asking for donations at the rally is no fun for anyone.

If you don’t use PayPal, please message me and I will get you an address to send cash donations to.

Thanks for your time and see you at the rally!
