Reversing Dyna Jet Install

When I bought my X the previous owner had a custom air box and re-jetted the carb. I wanted it all stock so I made the necessary needle change etc. I just learned that part of that Dyna install is drilling a hole in the slide. I've read some kits require it some don't. What does the OEM, untouched slide look like. Is there already a hole in it so the Dyna hole would make two? Or is it solid and a single hole would indicate a drilled hole? If there is a drilled hole I have to suspect there would be a performance issue of some kind going back to the OEM needle. And then there's the fix if it has been drilled. I suspect a new expensive slide. Next time I have the tank off, I'll have to open the top and see if there's damage. Thanks!

The stock slide valve has two holes, one for the needle, one for air.

The stock spring is fairly long, some mods cut it shorter.

All these years Ive admired folks that dicked with the carb/air box for supposedly better performance....for me I just dont see how my stock bike could run any better..... ...what am I missing....good luck OP....

I mentioned how my needle slants when in the slide. It does move/spring. Take a look at the pics. It looks like the punched depression where then needle hole in was not a flat/square punch by the thicker dark line surrounding the hole. The thicker dark line seating the needle than the thinner light line on the right which would be the high side. The other pic shows the slanted needle. So, is this an issue? The needle is riding the top of the emulsion tube all the time. Not free. I've been riding with it this way since I've had the bike. Does it effect the preformance when throttling up? I don't know. Just throwing it out there. Should I replace the slide. It cant be manufactured that way.

Did you compare MR VTX 101 CARB pix to your slide pix???
The nylon holder plate (#12 PLATE SET, VALVE) with a clipped tit.
Aftermarket needle with E-clip, shim washer and it looks straight when needle is in the slide valve.

The photo really screwed up(my eyes) bad, it looks like a raised area. >My depth perception is bad<
I had to look at my #2 slide to see the depression.
I suspect a larger OD washer was used than what MR VTX used and it jammed on the spring holder tit.
The tit may not have been clipped and has an interference fit.(take a picture of the washer/clip/needle)
Is the small spring in place under the jet holder?
