So I completed a pair valve mod last night. I just blocked the holes using a boat and Hose until my plates arrived. My bike will now not start or run u less the choke is pulled out all the way. Half way it sounds like a car with cam. All the way in just cuts off. What did I do. Also with Choke on. No popping but blk smoke. Just assuming that’s cause the choke is all the way on and it’s the fuel.. it ran fine before no issues and changed the plugs last week before the ride. All was good. I know I just crossed up something some how. Just don’t know what.
The VTX choke does not provide a high idle when closed.
You have to hold the idle speed if you close the choke aka Starter Enricher when cold.
I pull the choke out all the way, crank, run, than push it in some to drop the rpms for the fast idle I want.
If I go beyond the sweet spot it begins to lope.
I may or may not go to the lope but I will take off and ride.
When I get to 3rd gear summer, 4th gear winter I close it.
I have been doing it for 14+ years.
My jets are OEM.
Some have made the idle circuit richer, the only thing it needs than is high idle that your wrist or the throttle lock will provide.
Did you do anything to the idle screw???
RPMs too low and you will have issues.
