Just out of curiosity, if a bad guy recognizes that it's a NEST or whatever and knows that if he rings the doorbell he'll be recorded, what happens if he just knocks on the door to find out if anyone is at home?
Why anyone would allow Google, Amazon, or any other corporation to have access to their private life to the degree that these "smart" devices do is beyond me. I don't have anything per se to hide but I still value my privacy much more than the "convenience" of telling some two-way speaker to order me some pizza, or turn the lights or heating on for me.
I don't have a tinfoil hat but at the same time I want to discuss personal financial matters, family gossip, or the fun we had last night, with my wife without having to turn off more than just my phone when it's appropriate to do so.
Are we a socialist country yet? No, but the more information we give the corporations, who in turn give it to the govt. (willingly or not), the easier it will be able to turn us into one, with or without or consent.
