I had a physical done in 2017, my PSA was 1.2 at the time. Spring of last year 2018, an old guy that works for me, we're both 65 so I'm old too, his wife took him to the emergency room one night, his PSA was 50 and he had fever, chills and other worrying symptoms. Turns out he had an infection and didn't know it, it was starting to go septic. He got over that probably just because his wife took him in to the ER when she did. I typically have my sleep interrupted to pee once or twice a night. Three times or more on occasion depending on how much water and other liquids I drink in the evening and other times for no explainable reason, just because. I recently read about another guy that had his prostrate removed thinking it would help his frequent urination but it didn't help at all and it got even worse. If we all lived long enough and didn't die of other things before, prostrate problems would eventually get all men.

Update

Hey guys ....most of my Dr’s have gone to patient portals...some load all the information and others not so much...I had to ask my Urologist what my labs were got this..I’m thinking as many have said PSA is not to be trusted...

Your PSA, drawn at our office, was 2.3 on 6/25/2019. Your PSA will be drawn again at your next visit on 7/23/2019. PSA levels can vary greatly and it is entirely possible that both 12.1 and 2.3 were your actual PSA on the day they were drawn.

Thanks again for all the replies and God Bless....

I recently had a 'wonderful' experience (NOT)!! I had a colonoscopy June 18. After the procedure, the doctor discussed the results.

After he discussed my exam, I asked him about having a 'Cologuard' test instead of the colonoscopy. He said that test was getting better and thought it had value, etc.

Then I asked him about the PSA test. He said, essentially, that it was about worthless.

So, I guess the ol' digital exam is best.

I hate that - - -

After having prostate issues for most of my adult life, at the age of 47, my PSA doubled within a year. A subsequent biopsy showed cancer. After they removed my prostate, it was enlarged, full of calcium (from numerous infections), and the cancer was starting to turn more aggressive. IOW, I had BHP, Prostatitis, and cancer. I was glad to be rid of it via robotic surgery and I can now pee like a schoolboy again.
