I worked in the local public library for 3 summers ( junior high school )
I seem to remember it was $ 1.00 per hour... ( aka early 1960's )
job title was "Page"... N/J..

I would have said Netscape/Infoseek because that is all I remember from back then. I would have been wrong.

Excite, Alta Vista, Lycos, Web Crawler, Infoseek, Yahoo all early 90's as I remember

catalog cards going waaaay back, and Dewey Decimal in most Libraries as Chuck said

do we need books... maybe Not.

I am new to south Texas... last week I went to the local Library ... signed up for a "card" to use there Wifi.... I have metered internet... so when I need to update my Garmin GPS map.. ( 6.5gb ).. I use a library.

inside... over 100 Dell computers, Audio Book CD's in the hundreds, DVD's, music CD's...

being I have used libraries all my life..

the Book area is small... maybe 12 brands of newspapers.. 30 different magazines....( disappointing )

and this library is recently built, and LARGE... 6 meeting rooms...
