: OT Where to go in San Antonio?

Have a weekend trip planned for October to San Antonio. Would love some input from you guys for restaurants and must see destinations. In addition to the obvious tourist things; Alamo, River Walk, I'd like to get a flavor of the local places that you might recommend.
Unfortunately this will be a non-riding trip.

Thanks for your help,
Alice from Chicago

The RiverWalk and the Alamo are certainly things on the list. Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld are also things you can do. They are both up in the NW corner of San Antonio off of hwy 1604. There is a Rudy's BBQ north of 1604 off of I-10. If you are coming from Chicago, you have to have BBQ. And with that kind of distance, you are just a hop/skip from Fredericksburg. It is a very nice German flavored town. They have a Pacific Theatre museum as Chester Nimitz is from there as well as some very good local wineries. I guess it depends on what your time constraints are.

Be sure to see the Menger Hotel across the street from the Alamo. Lots of history and a great Sunday brunch

Check out New Braunfels and Canyon Lake if you get time. It's the Texas Hill country and some of the most beautiful scenery Texas has to offer.
