My wife is an extraordinary woman. She cooks and keeps a good house. Feeds the cows. And, she takes good care of me. I awoke early one morning and was all set for my favorite breakfast of bacon and eggs. We ran out of bacon. How depressing. ![]() You know that she couldn't bear to see me like this and so she went out in search for bacon. And she searched. And then she searched some more. And then she discovered that there was a severe bacon shortage. ![]() She never gives up..... and she's VERY resourceful..... ![]() |

It is unfortunate, even churches need to be aware of exposing themselves to legal issues. In our church, this became a rather daunting possibility with the fund raising dinners, and breakfasts and so on that we had. |

I worked in a butcher shop in my younger days and still apply those skills during game season (s). We used to provide a couple of the local Churches with wild game - all neatly cut, wrapped, frozen and labeled. We even provided them with freezers to store the meat. This continued for many years and then one day, they said that they could no longer accept any meat that didn't come from a regular butcher shop. So now, we shoot many more paper targets than wild game, as the trash can isn't picky as to the paper that it accepts. A half day of "target shooting" is still as satisfying as it ever was. |

That elk was an innocent victim of misplaced hunger. It's true, We have cows, and they all have names. And it's those cute little names that the Wife gave them. Pet names. Couldn't be eating one of those, now could we? ![]() |

Your "Guns or god..." heading isn't an attack, but is merely an observation, and you answered his question, you didn't attack him so that the topic (or anything) could be avoided. Lefty owes you an appology for his false accusation. Quote:

Checking on my subscriptions and reading the progress of this thread and I'm amused that Lefty STILL has no understanding of ad hominem and when it applies and doesn't (it doesn't here). After 'schooling' him on it countless times he still is trying to impress people that he learned the term, (he didn't) and by falsely accusing them of applying it to him. ![]() ![]()
![]() In regard to killing for sport? Who's business is it when others do something we consider wrong behavior? Everyone's. I agree with Bikerbob1 "killing anything as a "sport" is somehow the product of a twisted mind." I think "twisted mind" is bit harsh here and self-deluded is more often the case. Hunters proud of their kills aren't performing necessary evils, (helping keep populations down) so who are they fooling with the grinning photos and the bragging about scopes and shot distance? PL-E-E-E-A-A-S-E! Imagine if there were no people willing to slaughter animals for sport? How would the planet's animal populations ever survive??? ![]() Ever hear of animal sterilization? If we want to do something we shouldn't be doing, it's amazing how adept we are at finding reasons for them! |
