debelt | Having owned a VTX 1800 and a M8 107, admittedly years apart, I would’ve guessed that my M8 would’ve pulled it out of the hole but the X would run it down eventually. By the seat of my pants, the X just felt stronger, but I could be wrong. The M8 is a very good motor though and no slouch. |

As is often the case, fast is only fast enough for awhile. Then, we want faster. It's probably the reason we're not all still riding 350cc bikes. Or 750s, 1000s, etc, etc, etc. |

The MT-09 comes to mind (FJ-09) before that. Really quick. Far less expensive than almost anything else on that list. Just sayin'. |

We are talking about basically 16 year old technology with the VTX compared with state of the art 2019 technology Harley M-8 engines. So I think the VTX is still doing a hell of a job. Once Harley went to liquid cool engines I was sure that there horse power would go up. The newer Harley engines are a lot smoother than Harleys of old. With Indian pushing hard with their bikes with bigger 122 ci engines and horse power, Harley had to do some thing to stay even |

![]() I used to tell family and friends that my X was set up to be a Lazy Boy. By the time I finished with it I was able to recline against the backrest with the risers and bars making the reach easy. The Ultimate Big Boy seat was plush on my tush and I didn't experience any numb butt. Very comfortable. I don't ride dirt bikes and don't expect or want my cruiser to feel like one. I'm with you all the way on this one Hark. Quote:

No, primary drive is chain. Final drive is a belt. Same with all of the Softails and Touring bikes I believe. |
