  1. VTX 1800 Tech Board
I MUST have new brake lines. 16 yrs is gambling against the House. I've pretty much decided on steel braided. Kits that are well made, good materials are available for $400.00+. That's more than I want to pay. I checked with a local specialist, he will only quote me hourly rate. Estimates &...

Hey fellers! My VTX1800s is having a problem stopping. Rear brakes are basically not exsistent, and the front break locks with the slightest amount of touch. I know I need to replace my brake pads but is that going to be enough? It seems like if I put to much rear brake it will lock the fronts...
  4. VTX 1800 Tech Board
This seemed to start after I re-mounted my rim (replaced the front tire) last season. I followed the steps from Bare's VTX page as far as keeping the pinch bolts loose and slamming the front brake a few times (and even bumping tire into a curb) to supposedly set things into their proper...
  5. VTX 1800 Tech Board
Hey guys, I'm a new VTX owner (06 R) and had a question for y'all. After having a reputable local shop put on some new tires and EBC brake pads, I noticed that the brakes were loader than before. After reading on some online forums it seemed like a lot of people were saying that some noise was...

So I tried to do it myself and messed up. How do I get the air out of the rear brakes that are linked? I have a hand pump vaccume that I got from auto zone to bleed the lines. The master ran dry and i removed i think all the old fluid. Oops. now I'm unable to get the new dot4 fluid to drain...
  7. Wanted VTX Classifieds
Just purchased and the previous owner apparently didn't believe in changing brake pads. Rotors are looking pretty pathetic. Could use a decent set without the cost of new if I can help it. They also changed the grips and put on aftermarkets, except the wrong type so they stick and that is not a...

Hey there hope someone can help with my 2002 VTX 1800C. Was riding home when front bearing went out. It didnt give me much warning. I had about 3 minutes of a weird squeak and then it went to popping like the wheel was coming off. was close to the house at that point and rode it back in 2cd...

  10. VTX 1300 Riders Board
Just became the owner of a 2005 VTX1300 about a month ago. When I apply the brakes, (especially when it's really hot outside) I hear what reminds me of the sound those cicadas make. It's more noticeable from the rear brake but the front one makes a similar sound too. I never noticed it the first...
  11. VTX 1300 Riders Board
I just installed a brand new set of brakes (front and rear). The front brakes have a very low ticking sound to them - like a roulette wheel. If I hit the front brake at speed, the sound may or may not go away. Then I can hit a hard bump in the road and it is back. Obviously, I think the pads are...

03 VTX 1800R - Working on bike today and noticed the rear brake resevour appears to be empty. The resevour on the handle is full, the fluid is clean. I've never had any problems. Is this normal? Does it fill when brakes are in use? Can I remove the cap from the rear resevour and add fluid? Thanks
