‘Celebration of Life’

On May 19th (Rhody Run) Brother Mike, AKA Garbage Mike, from ‘Cruzer’s for Christ’ got his bike arrested, and I showed up in Florence with him riding bitch, and embarrassment for both of us. Now I am glad I had the honor.

Yesterday I got a call that he is short-timing it (a few weeks at most) due to liver cancer. What a shame.

Anyway why wait for the wake until after he is gone. Let him be there to enjoy the ‘Celebration of Life’ while he is alive.

This Sunday July 8th at 1:00 pm, Perkins Peninsula Park at Fern Ridge Reservoir, outside of Eugene Oregon.

Bring a dish to share if you can. And I still think he could have at least shaved his legs.

We did this with my step dad, before he died of lung/Brain cancer. He was a Marine Vet that spend 3 years in Korea, so we had a whole lline of PGR members show up at the party as well family and friends.

I cannot say enough about how much fun it was. God forbid that any of your loved ones get struck down by the cancer monster, but if it happens, celebrate thier lives while they are still here, and in good enough condition to enjoy it!!!!

I don't know Garage Mike, but I hope you all do it up right, and that he has the time of his life!!!!!!!!!

Party on Mike

Thanks

Thanks

Mike drove a garbage truck for years, but I think he would enjoy being called “Garage Mike” also. But I will tell “Garbage Mike” your wishes. They say the best nicknames are given by others. If you knew Garbage Mike you would agree. And I am not even going to talk about the condition of his old wide glide.

Ride with the Wind Brother

I am in shock. Mike Madden (Brother Mike) showed up at our coffee ride in last night, clear headed and unmedicated. Two months ago he was a scruffy healthy biker riding his Harley and smiling at the wind. Last night he was a bag of hairless skin with bones in it. Covered with sores, and a funny sort of tanned yellowish color. When he came over to the group the sight of him would make the strongest amongst us weak. As we broke up for the evening he asked me to take a last ride with him. We had a little prayer meeting (Rare with my group) and prayed the Lord would heal this cancer of the liver, and off we went. Just Brother Mike, and I into the west until I reached my turn off. I asked why with all his old friends around he choose me to ride with. He said “when I got there, you came over and gave me a hug. You let the others know I had cancer, not cooties, and it isn’t contagious”.

Thank You Mike (Garbage Mike ) Madden. Ride on Bro. I didn’t do anything special.

You're a good friend Bro. I don't know your bud, but if I lived a little closer to ya'll, I'd party with ya. Nice to have good buds at a time like this.

Brother Mike

I wasn’t looking for any kudos for myself, just letting folks know about a brother’s plight.

Brings up something to remember though. Cancer can come on “Right Now”, and it leaves you a wreck even if you beat it, but it is not contagious.

Everything went well. Several clubs represented. Besides Cruzers For Christ and Clean & Sober, there were Free Souls, Gypsy Jokers, Black Jacks and several others. A couple of riders from out of state showed up just to say God’s will. Good food, good fellowship. It doesn’t get any better. Brother (Garbage) Mike Madden knows he is loved. Better to say words for him now, then when he is gone, where they mean little to him. And you never know, he just might stick around.

Sounds like Mike just wants support and not pity...which I have found amoung the VTX community myself. I thank the folks that gave me that while in CO. Like I said to someone, I'm not dead yet so don't bury me because I have cancer.

Nice thing you guys did for Mike, I'm sure it puts a smile on his face during those bad days... I pray he's not in a lot of pain.
