Hello all. I'd like to preface this with two things:
1. I have searched the site (and google, and youtube) for answers, but am still not sure what to do.
2. I am mechanically challenged.
Situation:
My bike has sat for a year and I honestly don't recall if there was any fuel stabilizer put in it the last time I rode it last year (or was it the year before?)
The battery is charged, petcock is down, bike is in neutral.
I tried to start it with some throttle, and it just kept cranking but wouldn't start. I tried the choke, same result and probably flooded it. I pulled the sparkplugs and they were pretty dirty, and one of them had fuel on it (front left). I cleaned them and tried again, but it was probably flooded so I left it for the night. The next day I tried again, and still it wont fire.
So what Now?
I'm going to replace the plugs (probably overdue). Is the carb the next place to address? I had a hypercharger put on a few years back, and the bike runs rich, I'm wondering if the jets need to be cleaned (I think that's a thing, right?). I also watched a video where a guy shot starter fluid into the carb to see if it was a fuel delivery issue, but that seems a little "hold my beer"
I did add new gas but am concerned that the sitting fuel has gummed some things up, so I'm not sure where to start.
I've had the bike ten years and some of those years I was deployed so it would sit 18 months at a time, and I never had an issue
I appreciate your feedback (and maybe prayers)
