Hi y'all,
I'm new to this board and have looked through several threads but couldn't find someone else posting this issue, so I hope someone can help. I bought my 06 1300 with 19k miles, have put 5k on it. The bike has ran very well up until today. I was riding at around 70mph when my speedo started going haywire. Then I started getting crazy misfires, mind you this bike hasn't done this once. It wouldn't accelerate without horrible backfires. The spark plugs and oil were recently changed, a little less than 500 or so miles ago. I pulled over and felt compelled to check the oil. The oil was frothy, but not milky. This has me pretty much ****ting my pants. The speedo would work when I engaged the clutch. Also the bike idled and revved without hesitation with the clutch engaged. The bike is my daily driver and is ridden often. When I brought it home I started reading. All I could find is now It won't start, and the black wire to the icm or ecm yall talk about has been nicked. At this point I have to repair the wire to start the bike. Any ideas on how to repair the wire for starters? Its snapped right before the connector, giving me almost no room to (seal?) it. Has anyone heard of this problem? What should I try next? I'm freaking out yall, I love this bike. Thanks for anyone who reads or helps.

Try solider the wire, then use some liquid tape to protect it. Get it from Walmart in the fishing dept.

They will not have room for electrical tape, if the break is that close to the ECM.

Thanks for the suggestion! It's a tight spot, any suggestions for isolating the other wires? Will this wire cause some of the issues I described? Thanks

You can push the pin out and solder an extension to it.
One or two owners cut a part of the connector to get to the pin, others pushed the pin out..

I have saved some methods others have used to repair the ICM broken wire.
Step by Step Board, common issues 1300/1800, then 1800 and 1300 for their specific issues.

One more post added for another PDF add to the above thread.

Issue is solved! It was the black, power, wire to the ECM. It was severed a little less than a centimeter away from the connector. I attempted to pry the pin completely from the connector, but had no success. I was able to trim the surrounding plastic, expose the wire, and proceeded to crimp about a 6" piece of wire and coupled it together. After some electrical tape and liquid tape, as recommended in the first post, she was purring like a kitten! ( more like roaring)
