The vtx1300tips site isn't pulling up for me and I can't see the pics on poisons write up. I have a 4 day weekend and need to adjust the valves on my 2006 1300S. I plan to print poisons post but prefer pics too. Thanks!

Halfway through valve adjustment, intake valve seems to tight but bike was still warm, getting the airbox has been the hardest part. Cant wait to finish it and have saved myself some $600.

Beware of the "Tick Tick Tick!!!"

I just did my valves for the first time a couple days ago, and all of them were tight. Got everything up to specs, but afterwards, I noticed a new LOUD ticking from the front cylinder (heard clearly at 45mph in 3rd with a full-face helmet). I'm pretty sure the exhaust valve is too loose, so I'm going to tear into it today and find out what's going on in there. I know the VTXs have a certain "chugga-chugga-chugga" like a sewing machine, but I think I goofed somewhere :dontknow:

Also to my surprise, the valve adjustment gave it a LOT more throttle response and more "spring in her step." It makes me think that the previous owner never adjusted them, or the stealer he took it to didn't either....

Forgot to update this... Now that we can add PDF docs, I will add the 1300 Valve adjustment Docs I compiled a few years ago.
Poison's doc, Service Manual Doc and my 2 cents when I did my first valve adjustment.
The valve stem stretch then valve face and seat surfaces mating tend to reduce valve lash clearance.
Some have delayed or never adjusted valve lash.

Exhaust valves on my 1300 were the bulk of the adjustment.
I did not use Honda specified valve adjustment intervals as they are too frequent as is the spark plug replacement interval.
