What she omitted, and the stats omit is the fact that 80% of these accidents are CAUSED BY THE CAR DRIVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets hear the public outcry for PROSECUTING these yuppy [email protected]$ that kill people becasue they are jabbering away like gibbons on their cell phones while "counseling" (always in a POSITIVE manner) their rug rats in the back of the SUV, and all the while OBLIVIOUS to the roadway they are "driving" on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fatalities are going up because CAR DRIVERS ARE MORE AND MORE DISTRACTED AND THE VEHICLES HAVE LESS VISIBILITY!!!!!!!!!!!!

You wanna' pass a law to "help protect" me??? ILLEGALIZE (possibly a real word) cell phone use while driving, and make the penalties STIFF, if you can't pull over to talk then it must not be important.
I also think that whenever some MORON decides to pass on a double yellow and OOPS hits a bike head on then he needs to go to PRISON FOR VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER. PERIOD. NO APPEALS, NO FORGIVENESS, GO TO PRISON.

I have been ran off the road too many times by the exact above named stupidity to have any measure of tolerance for stupid people driving around in 2 ton weapons without a brain. The next stupid kid that tries to pass and nearly head-on's me is gonna the whole can of it.... Ditto for the soccer mom that is yakking about her kids and the next game with her BFF while driving and applying make up....

I say we should be allowed to SHOOT our way out of danger like we can in Iraq!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you guys jumped to some conclusions here.

When she said "...there is no public outcry" it could have meant outcry about all the things motorcycle riders do worry about. Such as MSF or other rider safety courses and basic rider education.

I appreciate the fact that people are looking into motorcycle crashes much more than they did in the past. There are accident reconstruction courses which specifically deal with motorcycle crashes. These and other studies help people to make educated decisions on what can be done to increase our overall safety on the roadway.

I know helmet laws are a hot topic, but that's not the only subject being researched.
