2005 vtx 1300c MTCE LOG

Purchased 6/8/2005
A day or two later I checked the oil, it was a quart or so low. I added oil and let the dealer know that the person that prepped it made a mistake, probably checked
oil with the stick screwed in. I have done ALL the maintenance to the VTX since purchased.

300 miles 6/11/2005 I had my first nail in the tire. I bought a new tire, brought wheel/tire in. Dealer gave me a discount on tire and labor. BUT the tire was a
D404, not the K555 and it was smaller diameter. It did not last long either. OE tire lived again later. (d404 300-7669=7369 miles)

July 11, 2023 208,535 miles. Time to remove the 3rd clutch cable and install the 4th clutch cable..
My lower cable was not aligned well....
A few strands poking out, not affecting pull back nor free play.
My coolant hose replacement gave me a good chance to analyze the wear.
47,179 miles on this 3rd clutch cable.

The first replacement of clutch cable::
85,xxx Clutch cable replaced-lever not returning to normal position, some strands are broken,
preventing lever movement in the free play.

161,356 28 March 2015 replaced 2nd clutch cable 85k - 161k = 76k miles.

One day when the clutch mod was made, there was more travel at the bottom end.
This larger travel is causing wear on the inner cable or my mis-alignment.

Aug 19, 2023 battery died.. Went open.
I tried to jump start with 230 CA lawn tractor battery--NO GO.
8 gauge wire too small, Starter Motor (SM) No crank.
I also used the very new lawn mower to jump--No Go.
I tried a large diameter, longer jumper cable, voltage loss from the copper plated iron clamps--No Go
I used the Ford Explorer 650 CA battery, SM stalled at compression stroke with 300 amps current.
I took apart the SM cleaned it out spoke to a Auto electric shop. Said armature looked okay.
Did you measure voltage at the SM?? I did not check the voltage at the SM.....
High current, low voltage from insufficient clamp contact, excessive cable length, will not crank over engine.
Charged new Factory filled battery while I was re-assembling the SM, radiator, etc..
That SM cranked up so fast it surprised me.
#7 208,797 miles, new battery 8-22-2023 New Yuasa YUAM716GH
