Petcock cover set has to have the VENT hole facing down...
If not, it will not shut off fuel flow correctly.

Need help with petcock
When mounted on the tank and all connections are made, the petcock works fine. No leaks or anything. If I take the tank off by removing vacuum line, fuel line and turn the lever to OFF, once I remove the fuel line it takes a long time to stop flowing and if you tip the tank the wrong way it will...

Adding Fuel Valve aka Petcock lever information.
I suggest to the new riders to practice the transfer from MAIN to RES.
If you pay attention to the engine you can hear the exhaust change as it
runs leaner. When fuel runs out I get a "lean out" pop.
Usually 3.6 - 3.7 Gals has been consumed.
A quick transfer about 2 - 3 seconds and keep rolling.
One gallon in reserve, then I consider mileage, at 10 miles per quart.
I have used up 3 quarts of reserve before stopping for gas.
Sometimes in busy traffic and I am in 140 - 150 miles I may switch to RES.
Once I get out of it then put back on Main and see how I am doing with gas.
I have gone above 160 miles on Main.
