Hi Guys/Gals,

SHORT VERSION:
If you already have your air housing off of your 2003 VTX-S, would you mind posting a pic of the mounting bracket for the bottom bolt that holds on the air housing unit? (see pic 1).

LONG VERSION:
Had to remove the air housing to do work on the carburetor. The bottom bolt would just spin so I ended up just pulling the nut it attached to through the mount. With replacement part in hand, I find that THE new nut doesn't "appear" to fit in the mount. As you can see from the pictures, even with the bolt inserted, the nut and it's rubber casing are too small. I'm starting to wonder if the mount shown in Pic 1 is missing a rubber grommet or something to hold the nut in place.

Part #19 attaches to part #7 only one way...and they show part #7 as a single unit.

Maybe I've been having a 4-day brain fart...but if you could post a pic or advice on what I'm missing here...I'd really appreciate it.

Hey I just replaced mine the other day with one I ordered from DLP. I had the same issue, part#19 didn't fit tight like the one I took out. I ended up tightening it before I mounted the airbox. Then slipped the airbox in place and slipped #19 through the appropriate hole. once I tightened everything up the airbox was rock solid. I think 19 either just adds additional support or maybe swells from the heat of the engine. Either way the airbox is rock solid and I am not worrying about it going anywhere.

If you look below the arrow, it appears the mounting bracket has a rubber grommet that hold the nut assembly in place. I'll check with the dealer tomorrow to see if they have the part, otherwise I'll see if I can find one at the Home Depot.

I'd throw that junk away. Get a 3/8 " speed nut from ACE and you will never have any problems with again.

Yeah, I saw the same thread, but noticed the new part #19 I ordered appeared a lot smaller than the old one I took off.
