I paid $352 last year for Progressive Insurance but that's not my biggest gripe. Discovered April 12th that Peter Lewis (his father Joseph Lewis founded this company in 1937) is CEO of Progressive and swimming in the same cesspool as Michael Moore and George Soros who are major backers of Moveon.org. I don't know about you redblooded Americans but I have no intentions of sending my hard earned dollars to a capitalist whose aim is to put me under a Socialist government , take away my gun rights, etc. You can go to Foxnews.com, then John Gibson's "Big Story" then read transcript from 4-12-05 titled "What is the vast left-wing conspiracy?" Hate to use this forum for this but my A$$ is chapped. Okay, where's the good "all-american" insurance companies? Would prefer some that are cheaper that $352/year.

P.S.-I believe that George Soros is the person who said that the U.S. Constitution is a "quaint document" that has out lived it's usefullness and would like to see America under the control of the United Nations. I understand that he bankrupted the Bank Of England (or some bank like that) through his currency trading shenanigans. He was a starving Hungarian who came to this country to partake of it's freedoms and riches.

I have state farm. I have been with them for 23 years so I get a pretty good discount. My bike insurance is 204 a year & my wifes vlx600 is 118.

I will tell you the discounts I get are not near enough to off set the cost of having 2 teenage male drivers. Oh boy is that fun to the tune of 325 a month for all my stuff.

I am really glad for this post. About a year ago I was thinking about calling progressive and talked myself out of it because I like having a local agent that I can talk to face to face. I hate recorded messages. This just gave me one more reason to stay put.

Progressive

I don't give a shiznit about what the CEO does with his life. I know that I got with Progressive first thru the car insurance side and paid almost half what Allstate (you are NOT in good hands) was charging me. Then, the worst happened and one of our cars was involved in a fatality accident (a family member was killed) & it was my driver's fault. Needless to say, we maxed out the policy and Progressive was ready to write the check to the teen son's trust before we even knew what we were doing. Then when the folks in the other car sued us Progressive took care of that (they ended up not getting as much as they wanted and we never even got served papers). Plus, I never got put on terminal hold, an agent actually came in person to explain what all the policy covered (which was everything), and I didn't have to worry about that side of it. My point is that I will always have nice things to say about Progressive because I've actually seen them in action.

BikeLine Rocks/Progressive Sucks

I like BikeLine. Been with them for over 20+ years, before they were "BikeLine." They used to be Pewaukee Insurance, wrote all H.O.G. insurance. They charge about 40% less than Progressive.

Never had an accident that was our fault, but they were great when we needed collision.

I boycott Progressive not because of politics, but because they started charging exta and are leading the fight for a law to make everybody pay extra ins. charges for an SUV. "Nobody needs an SUV," says Progressive.

HYPOCRITE CONTROL FREAKS. They feature their entire fleet of SUV "progressivemobiles. :cus: "It's OK for us, just not for the 'common people.'" Lewis must be Leona Helmsley's spawn.

I don't have a whole lot of choices. Ever try to fit 6'4" 260lb 14 year old twins in the backseat of any of today's Matchbox Toy cars? (Now at 16, 6'5, almost 300 lbs! even the frontseat of a car is too low unless the seat is reclined so far, the seatbelts become a safety hazard.) Not even a Lincoln Towncar.

As improved nutrition and health-care makes people taller (and junk food expands us the other way) cars get smaller and smaller and lower and lower inside. Then they wonder why we buy trucks and SUVs. Morons.

All I know is that Progressive has great service.
A couple of months ago some kids knocked over my bike down by the beach. It dented the tank and a few other things.
Since Progressive didn't have an agent here on Kauai they sent somebody out to take pics.
The guy tells me on the phone that he is figuring after my $100 deductable, I should get around $1100 but he still has to figure out a few more things. I get a check a week later. I don't open if for a week cuz I am busy and I think I know how much it is. When I finally open it up it is for $1890.00! Needless to say my bike is getting a lot of new and exciting parts and new paint also! Plus, I can't find another company to write insurance here in Hawaii.

WOW! Thanks for info, I'm not with progressive, never have been, never will be. Soembody else posted how wonderful they are. All I know is when I got hit by one of their insured, progressive tried everything in the book to put junkyard parts back on my car for repairs. Only after my attorney asked them for a brand new car did they see fit to put brand new parts back on my car. Seems like just the kind of company Michael Moore and his cronies would be associated with.

Anyway, Bikeline.com.

Hey, Lay off Michael Moore.

On his website, 'Ol Mike once again shows his good taste and manners by posting that he's "off to the Vatican to hand out goodie bags and run for pope."

Well, he probably doesn't date anyway, and he'd look so cute in those little red shoes.

Well Darn.

'Ol Mike blew it again. Just heard on TV that Ratzinger is Pope Benedict XVI.

Guess Mike will have to go back to his day job.

Insurance

You all should give Dairy Land Insurance a call for a quote. They are part of Sentry Insurance and was the least expensive of all the major companies I've gotten quotes from over the years. When I was living in Miami their quote made the difference between having a motorcycle or not. 10 minute call could yield big savings. What have you got to lose?

Dairyland

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Years ago, I wanted to carry full insurance on my first new "That-Which-Cannot-Be-Named. I called Dairyland; they had ads all over the cycle magazines. "Oh, we don't insure the kind of people who ride "That-Which-Cannot-Be-Named."

So, I joined H.O.G. They were affiliated with Pewaukee, later BikeLine. Great Folks. Great Rates. Great Service.

I knew it was only about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, not bikes, when H.O.G. announced they were now going with Dairyland, a natural "Wisconsin" partnership, Blah! Blah! Blah!

Forget politics, greed makes for stranger bedfellows. Because of those two events, I quit H.O.G. and have never called Dairyland since that first rejection. Don't know if they're good or bad. Doubt that I'll ever find out.

My Progressive is up for renewal at the end of this month, so I thought, lets get a quote from bile-line - Same coverages.

Just over double the premium I'm paying. Sorry, politics' aside, I'm still a Progressive customer.

As info, I just left Dairyland to go with Bikeline. There really was that much difference!

Same thing here. My Progressive premium went down from last year to $352 from $398. Bikeline wanted almost double for "less" coverage and higher deductibles ($798). I would switch if the price was right, obviously it is not.

Thanks for all the input. I still have some soap boxing to do later in the day concerning politics as I'm a 70 year old man who has been down the pike a few times and around the horn a few times as they say and I do give a s--t what happens to the future of this country for me, my children and grandchildren. I haven't ever fed at the "public hog trough" and if I had I might have a different out look so I will do everything in my power to not enable the above named SOB's in my first post to determine the future course of this great country of ours. Right now I'm fixin' to get on my Schwinn and go ride my daily five miles for my physical fitness then jump on my 1300 VTX RS and let the wind blow over my bald head. I still have to check out all the mentioned companies but right now Dairyland has Progressive beat by $313 to $352. Not a lot but as a man once told me "20 nickles make a dollar."

Catchall later

One cautionary Note:

When I insured my VTX with BikeLine, their initial quote was way high, too. But we had moved to Mississippi, which makes a company add a whol bunch of coverages UNLESS THE BUYER REFUSES THEM. These included many "duplications," eg. Medical Payments, which only came in AFTER my medical insurance. Passenger Inurance, which does NOT apply to family members. There was some other coverage whose name I forget, which was already included under collission.Etc. Etc. Etc. BikeLine bundles them ALL together unless you specify otherwise.

Once I deleted the coverages I didn't want, it was about half.

You must specify exactly what coverages you want.

Lil Daddy, I'll agree to disagree with you regarding your political views, but I have Progressive and they were fantastic when I had a claim. They are very professional and courteous AND offer me the lowest premium.
If you want to rant and rave about someone's political view or stand, find another website.
I could care less about yours.
