Awful. I’d like to know more about what happened. We had an incident here a few years ago where a transport truck cut the corner in the outside lane of a blind corner. There was a group of bikes coming the other direction and he took out a few of them. Only one fatality, but that’s too many.
This is a tragic loss of lives, and one that to me is senseless. A 1/2 or 3/4 ton 4x4 pickup pulling a 30' tandem axle trailer (either a 20 or 30 ton) depending on load capacity of the axles is irresponsible in the very least. The trailer probably out weighs the truck at least three times. IMO if this young man was working for a company that allowed this dangerous situation to happen, there would be he!! to pay. I've pulled a 48' enclosed car hauler all over the US behind a 1 ton dually but, never once over loaded the carrying capacity of my truck. Rant over, RIP lost ones, prayers for all.
Completely avoidable and unbelievably sad. Saw it on the news last night.
They used some evasive wording such as "authorities are investigating whether to charge the pickup driver with manslaughter" which was an early indication that he caused this terrible wreck.
