I have read that blocking the rear opening on the Pro Hyper gives a decent performance boost, exactly how and what are people using to block this opening. I am considering doing this and wanted to know peoples experiences with doing this mod. Thanks to all who respond

The Hyper will never act as a RAM effect intake. The air flow into a RAM intake must be in undisturbed air, mounted on the side of the motor is far from undisturbed. To be in undisturbed air, the RAM intake would have to be above and infront of the headlight. Closing that rain hole will do little to affect the numbers. 8)
Here is a whole write up on RAM effect.

Hypercharger Improved Performance

I just read about this today. It was in the following thread about halfway down. GITARDED stated he did some dyno runs with various airfilters and when the lower slot of the Hypercharger was blocked off there was improvement to bring it on par with others. I would love to see the dyno sheets to quantify the improvement.

I agree with Spike that there will be no RAM effect. But having two interances for air could cause turbulance thus reducing effeciency of airflow inside the housing. Just speculating on a mechansim to explain the observation.

I was going to test this out this weekend by simply (now don't laugh) putting some duct tape over the lower opening and testing on the butt dyno. If it seems like there is something to it then will think about a more permanant solution. As I understand it the function of the lower slot is to all rain water to escape. I am a little worried about the consequences of blocking it off.
