Hello I just bought a 2005 Honda Vtx 1300 r. It has aftermarket pipes but I can’t find what kind they are. It also has a k&n air filter with end cap. Cracking the throttle it gets up and goes fine. But starting out or maintaining speed it will spit and sputter. Also has a lot of backfiring when letting off the throttle. Not sure if dynojet stage 1 or 2 would be best. Anyone’s help would be greatly appreciated..

Welcome to the VTXOA!

Looks like HK 3" pipes. HK has stamped numbers on the pipes rear of the bracket, facing the wheel.

Check/replace vacuum hoses.
Check the slide valve diaphragm for cracks/splits/slits.
Exhaust leak at the cylinder head will cause decel explosions.
17 ft/lbs torque is the max on the exhaust port stud nuts....

The "Scar" mod raised the needle with a washer.
Looks like all the pix have disappeared.

Verify good fuel flow from the petcock. Vacuum needed to open valve on the OEM petcock.

Most have already done the jet kit when they changed the air box.

Analyze, document what you have. Check first before throwing things on it.
