I recently did some work on my VTX including changing the coolant. Now when it heats up, I am getting a high temp light. Could I possibly have an air pocket and if so, how do I bleed the air from the sysem? I just turned 20,000 miles on an '02 Vtx1800c. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

With the caps off the system and reserve;
1. Shift into neutral

2. Start the engine and let it idle for 2-3 minutes

3. Snap the throttle 3-4 times to bleed air from system

4. Stop engine and add coolant to fill system and install radiator cap.

5. Check level in reserve tank and fill to the upper level if low, replace cap.

Thanks to Chicago-Spike for the info. My temp light no longer comes on after following your suggestion. Thanks.

It certainly helps to have another person around to help hold the tank, even if you have the handy tank lift tool on Bareass' site. Then you will need a long flexable funnel to get to the mouth of the radiator cap. Unless you're an squid with more than 2 arms, it would benefit having 2 people. 8)
