Get yourself a Craftsman Club membership (instant in the store), and go pick up a torque wrench if you need one. Can get 3 flavors:

44593 3/8-in. 25-250-in.lbs. Reg. 74.99 sale 64.99 Member price 59.99
#44594 3/8-in. 10-75-ft.lbs. Reg. 74.99 sale 64.99 Member price 59.99
#44595 1/2-in. 20-150-ft.lbs. Reg. 74.99 sale 64.99 Member price 59.99

Can't direct link to the member site, but these are a good deal. 8)

I'm looking for a good birthday gift. 10-75 ft lbs. should cover most VTX applications right?

Mine is 10-75ft, works for everything I've done so far except clutch springs. Stick to the ole wedge style torquer for that.

Eh, just got back from Sears, sale doesn't start until the 23rd, but you can pick a wrench up today, and take your receipt back in on the 23rd, and they will credit your card.

I got the inch pound and the 20 - 250 ft/lb wrenches. Figure that should cover everything I will ever need them for.

Don't know which one is more accurate, but most seem to prefer the deflection beam-type for the clutch springs...I guess that's what I'll get. 8)

Clutch spring bolts are brittle and it is easier to baby them with a beam type Torque wrench. I use a 10 - 75 ft lb clicker for everything else :D
