I am trying to lower the rear shocks on my vtx. I did a search and read the discussions and even made my own jig to compress the shock. But I think I misted something. I can’t find any nut when the shocks compressed to disassemble them. what do I have wrong????

The nut is directly under the top aluminum end cap (where the bolt goes thru to attach the shock to the bike), and actually tightens against the cap to keep it in place. You may have to slide the rubber bushing down to see all of it, but it's there. Put a wrench on the nut and a screw diver or something similar thru thru the bolt hole and remove the alum. cap. a nut on my shock stripped because the cap was on so tight, be careful.
