Getting ready to purchase Saddleman Drifter Saddlebags. What is your opinion on the best brackets to mount the saddlebags on a 1300R?

Thanks

Ditto with the Easy Brackets. I've never used Ghost Brackets, but when I was looking, I saw reviews that stated that the Easy Brackets were more durable over the long haul. When they are the same price, I went with the Easy Brackets.

I use easy brackets on mine. I gotta tell ya if you decide later to change your setup and need new docking posts, these folks are incredible! I bought my easy brackets used from a member here. Called Easy brackets and got new docking posts. They shipped them to me without my paying for them first. Said they wanted to be sure they fit.........and it only took a couple of days for them to get here. Now, I'm putting a sissybar on my ride, so called 'em again. Same story, and got the docking posts within 3 days.......great people to work with! The easy brackets themselves are really nice. Lets you run with or without bags in seconds. They look good too, but they do kick the bags out a bit from the bike if you look from the rear, but the way they're made, depending on your setup, the bags will be orientated straight with the fender......JMHO

I ordered the EasyBrackets for my 2007 VTX 1300 C and the middle bolt was too short. Called them and Dave said mine was about the third or fourth call that week about the 2007 models. He was going to see a dealer to check it out.

It turns out, so he said, that Honda did make a change in the angle of the fender (at least in the C and R models) in 2007. Because of the fender angle change, a longer bolt won't be sufficient. They have to manufacture new docking posts as well. Everything should be ready by the end of the month.

To me when I bought my Easy Brackets they appeared to have more support where they attach to the bags than the Ghost Bracket, but I may be wrong.

I have the easy brackets and the saddleman drifter jumbos. Beware that the plastic backing on the bags may begin to crack. Mine started. I solved the problem by cutting a thin piece of plexiglass the size of the back of the bag and placing in the bag. Got the idea from someone on this board. Sorry I don't remember who. Provides the needed support. No more problems.
