Hey all.. long time.
My bike has been sitting and I started going through it to get it back on the road but I noticed some rust in the tank.
I’m thinking I can clean it but it may come back.
Will a late model C tank fit on an F?
Will my F dash fit in a newer C tank?
Thanks in advance!

some 2008 "C" tanks have the "F" dash.. but that's it.

rust is caused from air in the tank.... or dead fuel in the tank..

if you remove light rust... or have the tank treated/coated.... and tank is kept FULL with fuel that does not get more then 6 months old.

or use a stabilizer then 1 year.

Thanks for the insight. Funny, my bike is an ‘07 C that came w the F dash.
I’ve got her up on the stand.
I’ll yank the tank and see what some apple cider vinegar will clean up in 24 hours.
Fingers crossed!
Thanks again.

So to follow up, I had rust in my tank. Decided to try to de-rust the tank.
I didn’t use vinegar.
I used this stuff from Hone Depot called Metal Restore Bath.
The stuff works great. It’s water based and contains no acids. No neutralizing no flash rusting afterward.
I disconnected the fuel line at the fuel pump to flush the bad gas... put it all back together and added ethanol free gas and she’s as good as new.
Gonna go register the tag tomorrow and begin rotating rides w my Street Glide.
Ride safe!
