Hello everyone.

Am trying to narrow down my search for an enhancement to the stock exhaust sound with the following primary objectives:

(1) Better / reasonably louder sound than stock 8)

(2) Easy to install (slip-ons appear to be the best route & hopefully no rejetting) :D

(3) Reasonable cost (in the event do not like the sound later)

Am comparing between the following products:

(a) Roadhouse Slip-ons
- $402.99 plus tax & shipping

(b) Hard Krome DD Drag Slip-ons
- $328 plus tax & shipping

(c) Vance & Hines Dual Cruzer Exhaust System
- $398.98 plus tax & shipping

Any comments on any of the above in regards to sound, ease of installation and cost?

Am contemplating placing an order before the HDL July 4th sale is over . . .

Thanks for any assistance on this inquiry.

Take care,
Izzy Rider

If your going to get slip ons you may as well do the kiwi mod.
I've done it and it sounds pretty good to me.
I did the clayton mod first but was still alittle quiet for my liking.
Luckily for me Kiwi lives but an hours ride [Huntly, New Zealand]so I went to listen to his bike first hand.
The sound bite doesnt do them justice , he hung a mic out his bedroom window.

:D
there is a you tube link at the bottom of the page
For those that don't know, xchoppers sells the exact same slip ons for about $189 that JC Whitney sells for $60 some odd dollars. The only difference is that xchoppers furnishes some sort of home made bracket.

You haven't mentioned Cobra Slip-ons, probably one of the most popular choices on the board.

I had the Hard krome slip ons - they sound nice and are not too hard to install.

BUT for the money you spend on slip ons, you can get a full system for not much more money.

I eventually switched over to a full system. I would recomend just starting with a full system.

Most of the time, if you don't mess with your air box, you don't need to re-jet

I like the stock header pipe Id like to know the advantage of getting the full system versus the slipons. inquiring minds want to know.
Theres was a poker run awhile back and I made arrangement to meet a few fellows to listen to different pipes, clayton mod I liked it but wasnt for me,cobra slipons liked them but a little loud, roadhouse slipons just what I was looking for I for one like the look of the stock pipe but I like the sound of the roadhouse, all the others I listened to were to loud for my ole a&&. Try to find some fellow XERs and check some out. Now if I had the $$$ it would be the dooleys. Good luck on this one.

I have the HK slip-on's, they are pretty loud and I'm as happy as I could be with slip-ons .To be honest I wish I had waited and bought the 3" big straights, they look and sound better. I was trying to save money, I would have been better off doing the Clayton mod, waiting till I had the money and bought what I wanted for a couple of hundred dollars more.

My thoughts exactly! I like the stock exhaust look, truth be told, I probably would not have gotton the slip ons if I didn't find them cheap here on the board. The dooleys are about the only other look that I would go to.
