I recently purchased an 06 VTX 1300 R and am interested in attracting more attention from motorists behind me when I brake. I know there are flashing brake light modules out there. I really would like to have an additional light that flashes when braking. At least, I would like to have the bike brake light flash. Anyone have any recommendations?
Also, on this bike how can I identify (color) the brake light wire for splicing in a flashing brake light module?

I use the comagination one. Works well for me. I also use their headlight modulator. This is the only product I have experience with.

Thanks Litre, that's exactly what I was looking for. Saw one the other day that flashed constantly when the break was applied, didn't want that. This one sounds like the ticket, and not a bad price either.

+1 on the "Back Off" modulator........I went straight to there website and bought mine. Signal Dynamics makes them.....love the way it works. I pulses three times and holds steady and then repeats the three and holds again as long as you hold the brake. Not like some that pulse and slowly stop. I like the action repeating if I have been at a light for a long time.

I also have the headlight modulator also.

Let me know if you decide to go with the back-off brand. I have one still in the wrapping, never opened that I'll send you for free. If you deceide you want it, just PM me with your address.

I ended up going with a light bulb that you just plug in. I think it was called a tailblazer or something like that. I really like that alot. It does the same thing as the backoff but the blinking lasts alittle longer.

This was a review I did on another board. I like the setup and if I could figure out how to post a picture I post some.

Ordered some parts for my 2006 1300R from HDL on 6/28, Arrived today 7/3. Took all of an hour to install. Kuryakyn Plug and Play Run-Turn-Brake Controller (KUR-4610) Deep Dish Bezels with Colored Lenses, 2 sets (Amber KUR-2268 and Red KUR-2269).

The instructions for both were pretty straight forward. Quality of product was at least as good as OEM if not better. Both sets of lights are noticeably brighter and I think the ring between the light housing and the bezel add a nice touch.

The Run-Turn-Brake controller adds some nice safety features to the bike. The rear turn signals now work as running lights as well as additional brake lights. If either brake is applied while the turn indicator is on, that light will flash off and on while the opposite side continues to function as an additional brake light. Also when the brakes are applied all three rear lights flash three times then remain solid on until the brake is released. (a little attention getter for anyone behind you). You have the ability to set the brake lights to solid on (no flashing) by removing a jumper on the unit marked "flash".

The unit also comes with a load equalizer to slow the blinking rate of the turn signals (mine about doubled after I installed the controller unit) it also has an additional connection available for a second load equalizer if needed (single unit slowed mine back to normal). All in all I'm very pleased with the quality, appearance and ease of installation.

I'll second the Kury Run-turn-brake controller. I went for it because it convertes the rear signals to running lights in addition to providing the "Back-off" function. As another poster mentioned, I too notice cars backing off when they see the flashing. I think it's a must in this day of distracted cagers on cell phones, big mac's etc.

After a year and a half the kury bezels are starting to bubble though. Still really sharp looks IMCO.

I have the Kriss brake and turn module. Have been using it for three years with no problems. It has 12 different settings you can use. The turn signals will stay on as running lights, they will flash, or wigwag when you brake, plus other options.
I just went to their web site. The modules have went up in price (rather pricey) and now have 15 different options incorporated.
Mine has served me well. And it is an attention getter.
Good luck on what you decide.
