I know this subject is worn ragged, but I can't seem to find the answer to this. :? I am going to be doing the mod soon. It's time for new tires, so I figured what better time. Everything is already ordered, but I just started thinking about the tires. I have read over and over again that you shouldn't mix radial and bias ply tires. The metzelers I have coming are a 200/60VR-16(radial) and a 110/90-19. As far as I can tell, Metz. doesn't make a 200/60-16 that is not radial, nor do they make a 110/90-19 that is. I'm assuming that this is ok, what are you guys running? Thanks.

its fine to mix the radial and bias tires on the bike as long as you don't have the radial in front. i'm running the metz 200/60/16 radial on the rear and the stock dunny on the front and it handles great, realy plants in the curves. you are gonna love this set up. 8)

Same here. Before I did the foots mod I asked the same thing, did all kinds of searches, and found that it is safe to run a radial on the rear with bias on the front. Just not the other way around.

From the FAQ page at Metzeler.

I am building a custom V-Twin and I see you offer both radial ME880 tires as well as bias ply ME880 tires? How do I choose?
When building a custom bike there are many things choices that must be made. We offer many oversize rear custom tires that are radial in construction and we also offer many front tires in standard bias ply construction. The general rule with custom bikes and these types of tires are as follows: You may install a radial rear tire with a bias ply front tire, BUT you can never install a bias ply rear tire with a radial front tire.

Thanks for the info. guys! Just wanted to hear from someone who had done it that it was ok. Guess I just wanted a little assurance that there is no prob. with this combo.

Now, any of you want to come and straighten my rear fender out for me  JK, I don't think it will be that big of a deal(hopefully), but yeah, I was "blessed" with one of the '04's with the crooked fender issue.
