I'll warn you. You will get 2 different stories on this mod. Half will say this could be a dangerous move, Half will say it isn't. Some have said they experienced a high speed wobble in the front end after doing it. Here is a whole thread on that very debate
http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/viewtopic.p ... rake+trail
Here is a site that explains Rake&Trail
http://www.bamph.com/rmh/rake_and_trail.htm
It is said to be a better idea to cut and weld the neck for a bigger rake and then add fork leg extensions.

Why not spend the money on a down payment on a new car

Why spend the money on a perfectly good bike?
Because I can?

Ok, here's what I will likely do...

If in the future I need to tear down the engine for some reason, I will likely take the oppertunity to have the frame modified and then chromed.

It's pretty obvious that the fork and tree mod really is not what I am after.

Sorry SeaBear,

I forgot to put those little smilies in my post.
People are always jiving me about why I didn't purchase a Retro,
or why I ruined a perfectly good C model by putting Retro fenders
on it. I was just passing a little bit of humor along.

No offense intended.

By the way, the mods which have given the most improvement
to my bike were installing the Progressive fork springs,
and installing braided stainless steel brake lines.
Big improvements for not too much money.
