I read in the shop manual that the fork oil should be 8 wgt. At my local Honda dealer, they only had 5 or 10 wgt, so I took the 10.

My question is this: Is it essential that I change the oil in both forks? Long story short, I had a left side leak and seeing as the dealer only had one fork seal in stock, I only changed the left side, and filled it with 10 wgt, leaving the right side untouched with the factory 8 wgt oil.

I have not put it all back together yet, so it is relatively easy for me to drain the right side, but I am just wondering if it is essential?

Need to have the same stuff in both sides.

The factory fill is 10 weight oil. It is honda SS-8 Suspension fuild (10 weight).

Personally, I'd change the fluid on the other side to ensure the fluids are at the same level and cleanliness, but that's just me.

ss-8 is 10wt oil.
