Hi Guy's, I'm hoping I can get a little info here for a 2003 1800C. Due to a long illness I wasn't able to ride my cycle for quite a few years. To start with it had bad gas. Emptied the gas tank and removed the fuel pump assembly. The pump assembly needs cleaning as it has some white stuff on it. Will a can of carb cleaner from WalMart be ok to spray and clean the assembly or will it be to harsh on the assembly parts? Also the big black rubber boot holding the stainless mesh/filter needs to be replaced. I seen a rebuild kit for in the tank pump on ebay. Anyone have any experience with this type of rebuild kit? Here's the kit - ebay item number, 152171703357 .. Anyone ever have this problem and what did you do to fix it. All help is appreciated. Thank's…

I do not know of anyone using the kit you mentioned.

Parts place fuel tank fiche for info> https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/motorcycle/2003/vtx1800c-a/fuel-tank-1

The 1st Gen 1800 electric pump motor is the same for late 1800 models with external fuel pump housing.
Several fuel pump motors are identical. The Bosch 69496 pump is identical to the stock pump.

Step by Step board has info, two docs for info.

Thanks H&F.. All great info.. I'm going to start a shopping list of needed items. Another question for you, Will spray carb cleaner from Wally's be ok to clean the whole assembly or would it be to harsh on some parts?

Any spray carb cleaner should be ok except for the pump motor.
Diesel is a good overall cleaner and safe to use.

Never use a spray on the moly coated throttle body parts.

Keep the carb cleaner spray out of and off the throttle body behind the airbox! The throttle body is coated with molybdenum spray and if you spray that off with carb cleaner you will have to buy a new throttle body as your bike will never idle the same again
