Whatever you do, don't mount it in the same place as the stock horn. I mounted mine there and it scratched my front fender after a couple of bounces pulling into my driveway. Remounted my horn below the radiator on a bracket I made and it worked fine until I decided to replace it with the dual horns from Harbor Freight. I like the dual horns better and they cost much less than the air-horn. They are also much louder.

sure i guess i am just not very inventive when it comes to stuff like this and i thought i read where someone made aspecial mount under the swing arm..
Do you have anything under the bike in front of the swing arm pivot? Depending on what model and year bike you have, you might have something already taking that place. I know others that did mount it under the tank (after they desmogged) or where the stocker is (depending on where YOUR stocker is located). Below the key area is an option as well for some, or even on the left side between the jugs (again depending on year/model)....

I buy some tools and stuff there, but I'd be careful about putting an electrical anything from there on my bike. My heat gun that I got from HF caught on fire about 5 seconds after I turned it on. Probably not what was meant by "heat gun." :?

Yep that gives a heat gun an altogether different meaning!:lol:

The horn has great reviews and I was trying to find out about the relay stuff.

I made a bracket similar to the PepsX. Very simple to do. A couple small pieces of 1/8" flatstock welded together. Drilled two holes for mounting to swingarm, and one hole in the "ear" for mounting horn.

Did you buy the Bad boy? Is it really as loud as they claim? Also I read a review saying make sure you use a relay to power it. What exactly does that mean? I had planned to use the connections where the OEM is.

Thanks
I think (not 100% sure) that most of these horns are copies of, or are, the Stebel Nautilus. This is the horn I made the bracket for. I mounted it on my GFs 1300. To answer your question, YES, it is very loud. So loud you do not want to sound it in a closed garage.

Great I want loud! Can I just connect it wires going to the OEM?

Thanks

I suppose you could but, it draws more power than the stocker and it is advisable to use a relay. The Stebel horn came with a relay and a wiring kit. I believe the one you pictured does as well. My install was a bit more complicated as my Darlin wanted to retain the stock horn. I added a second momentary switch to the handlebar and used the wire from it to trigger the horns relay. So, like a 'big-rig' she now has a 'city' horn and a 'road' horn. You won't be disappointed with the volume.

Yeah this is a HF and a guy in a review said to get a relay so it must not come with it. Where could I find one? Also i was going to just leave th oem horn there and use the wires. I want to hide that good...not like it's pretty!!

Thanks:thumbup:

The Stebel does come with a relay. You should only use the stock horn lead to trigger the relay, NOT to power the Stebel, unless you want to fry your stock horn switch. You can leave your stock horn in place, if you want. Both horns will honk, but there will be a fraction of a second delay before the Stebel honks, just the time it takes for the horn to gather enough air to honk. Refer to the following diagram, or use the "search" function to find the many threads that explain both mounting and wiring:

I mounted my new Stebel the same way fourmaxk1 did. I bought the relay kit and removed my stock horn. It sounds pretty good, and is loud but I was thinking it would be a bit louder. But it is the loudest motorcycle horn around right now, where I am from. One thing, if you wire it and then I removed it to fabricate my mounting bracket, watch the way you hook it back up. I hooked up the 2 wires, and got a terrible sound, just like web bike world did. Then I switched the leads to the horn and it blew me out of the garage again.

I have the horn from harbor freight and it came with a relay,if you follow the instructions that come's with it you won't go wrong! I used a L bracket and mounted mine under the tank where the pair valve junk used to go! And yes it loud.
P.S been having mine for 3 years with no issues!!

Great, did you get the bad boy? HF wesite didn't mention a relay unless I missed it. I hope so. Is it twice as loud as they claim?

Thanks;)
