Sometimes I get a single backfire slowing down from cruising speed. Iwould like to fix it myself but am out of ideas. I have done the following:

1) Put Roadhouse classics on and had Dynojet kit installed and Dyno'd
2) Reinstalled Roadhouse and put new gaskets(again)
3) Charged the battery and it went completely away for a week or two.
4) Removed pair valve
5) Removed packings in Roadhouse(better but pop)
6) Ran 89 octane and very infrequent pop(better yet)
7) Put K&N filter on(worse yet w/hesitation in low gears and some pop)

When you changed exhaust and rejetted, did you still have the stock air box and filter? If so, when you went to the K&N, you may be too lean now.

I know this sounds stupid, but mine did the same thing. It was a loose battery connection, and from what i hear, its pretty common. Once I tightened the cable, I got no more pops. Just a thought.
