This Sunday I'm going in to attempt my valves. First 600 miles didn't take long to get there. I figured it was wise to spend the money on a hydraulic stand then to give it to the stealer. First question I talked with one dealer who quoted $89 to adjust unless he had to go in and turn the crank according to my readings of this web site all you turn is the bolt to line up the FT and RT up to the mark and ensure valves wiggle. Please stand by for more questions come Sunday and hopefully not into Monday took day off just in case I wanted to go fishing.

Hmmm, $89 to adjust, but more if he has to turn the crank...hmmm
maybe he means $89 to listen and more to adjust! I don't know how to do it without turning the crank. Just read the link Hammer gave you and come back here if you get lost...someone is always here.

And DON'T DROP ANYTHING DOWN THE HOLE!!

Or your life will suck big time...

that PDF is a God send for showing how to set up the job.

mine didnt require the valve job at that interval as reported by the dealer service manager but I will likely check them when I get back next spring before I ride again.

Thanks for the info I had already printed out the instruction and went bought offset guages but can not find a 4mm wrench, Sears, auto zone and even the neighbor hood guy who has everything doesn't have one. One question at the 600 mile inspection how many people had to adjust there valves or were they good to go.

The 4mm wrench you'll find at Sears in a Metric Ignition Wrench set.

I went through this recently and did not find the 4mm wrench in any set sold in our local Sears, but this may be due to the fact that I live in "Smallville." If you can't find it at Sears, you CAN find it in a set they have available on their website. That's how I got mine. Fair price and fairly quick delivery. Good luck with it.

Thanks for all the help so far still no 4mm wrench. I went fishing this morning instead of starting on bike. I managed a 27lb king mackeral. Had some for dinner and then started on bike. I got tank and seat off and bolt for pair valve. Questions do I remove all hoses to pair valve to get it out of the way? I also loosened the crank bolt. The bolt on the inside of this is the bolt I turn to line up my marks correct. While I have this much stripped off is there any thing else I should do or look for. Sorry for all the questions first bike and I like doing things for myself that way I know If I screw myself over.

As long as you're in there get rid of the PAIR valve, it will only cause you grief in the future.

And yes to the question about the crank bolt.
