I have been a Honda motorcycle owner for years. 97, 04 Gold Wings 2000 Valkyrie and a 250 Rebel. Due to spouse health issues we sold all. Recently lost my loving wife of 53 years, I'm going to ride again for us both, so I just bought a good used 07 VTX 1300R in Candy Black Cherry. Just mounted new tires and Cobra long pipes. The bike has 13562 miles. I am almost 73 years old, live in Western NY and happy to be here.

Anywhere close to Pa./ Rte. 219? Welcome from central Pa. high atop the Alleghenies near Johnstown. I'll be 73 in Nov. So sorry for your loss. I know little about the 13, but others here will be along to help you. One thing you'll need to read up on, using keywords "death wobble". The factory steering neck bearings are total junk not fit for a bicycle. Great people here, and on the VTX Cafe, to help adjust to your new addiction.

I, too, am sorry for your loss. I hope the rides help you feel closer to her.

And welcome to the forum from Florida! Plenty here to keep you busy for weeks!

I sold my 1300S recently, I know some stuff and fixed some things. But there are experts here to help with all kinds of things.

Hello GassyGordo, welcome to the VTXOA!
My condolonces to you!

13,652 miles. Low mileage VTX have the most problems.
Have you looked into the fuel tank?? A rusty tank can be cleaned.
The carb jets could be clogged.
Any idea when it was run the last time??
I hope you got a good one...

Welcome gassygordo, so sorry for your loss, I've just went through something similar so know somewhat how you feel. You will enjoy the 1300 (I Have a 2007 1300C). I do and it's my therapy. There are tons of people here to help you with any issues you find. I'm also in New York so if your ever around Corning hit me up and we can cruise around. I do travel to Salamanca and hit 219 south when I head to Ohio for get togethers too.

Hey Gordo, my condolences from Vancouver. Like you ( a 4x Honda cycle owner, who has been away from riding- 40 years in my case) , I recently bought an ‘04 vtx1300S , also in good condition.
I have been fortunate that the previous owner was caring so death wobble and rusty fuel tanks are not an issue- I hope you have the same experience.
the bike itself is pure joy- Honda quality and ride tuning delivers smile after smile. I wish you many more.

Howdy from Texas and welcome to the club!
Sorry for your loss, it is never easy.
Since you are in "west NY" (that's Joizy, no? :D ), has your riding season started yet? (we never stopped down here in Texas)
Got any pictures for us? We are suckers for pictures!
Joizy is E. Philthydelphia.
