I've been contacted by the NHTSA, and discussed the flange bearing issue with them. They have requested our members provide a report of problems. If you have had a flange bearing failure, please take a minute to post here.

In addition, you should browse the following link, and file a report of the failure with the NHTSA:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

Please limit responses to your personal experience. Chatter or responses which do not contain reports of failure will be summarily deleted. Please stick with facts only. No editorializing of any kind.

If you have had a bearing failure in the final driven flange assembly,
please take a few minutes and post the following information:

Approximate date of failure: (when did this happen?)

Year of Manufacture:

Model: (which model you have)

Bearing Condition: (how did you determine bearing was bad - was it rough? come apart?)

Accident : (did it result in any sort of an accident?)

How fixed: (Dealer? Bearing shop? Was it covered under warranty?)

Additional remarks: (any other pertinent information)

I would not have caught this had it not been for this site. My new tires had been installed and the mechanic must not have checked the bearings. I have only a few thousand miles on tires.
I filed my complaint and have been contacted by NHTSA.
PLEASE EVERYONE THAT HAS HAD A PROBLEM DO THE SAME.
