I've been reading threads that say I need to use a relay with a light bar, unless the lights are LEDs. I do not know how to hook up a relay or how to determine which relay to buy.
1. Does anyone know of a lightbar that already comes with a relay in the kit, or one the has LEDs as the spotlight.
2. Would an LED spotlight throw enough light for a reasonable distance?
3. Is there any other tips I need to know before purchasing a lightbar?

To answer your question, the Hondaline lightbar comes with a relay, switch, and is completely plug and play with the VTX. The switch mounts on your left accessory switch housing and the relay cuts the driving lights off when you switch to high beam. This lightbar works with the factory windshield, but if you have a Memphis Shades you will need to get a headlight extension to bring it out far enough to clear. I used Glen's 2" extension and it was perfect. The only problem I have with it is that the spotlights are aimed too high even at their lowest setting. There are different remedies to fix it, but it is a design flaw IMO. Here are a few pictures:

I have used Kuryakyn universal wiring harness. There are several types, here is the URL for the basic one:

works fine. I connect the relay power to the light bar wire in the headlight bucket. This is a switched power wire.

PM me is you want relay wiring info. It is really very easy. I have all of my headlights/lightbar on a relay. Lots of good reasons for this.
