I don't know that I can speak to the difference between the two, but I just ordered the one for $316 and change since it is specifically made for the S and R and I own an S. I know there is a noticeable difference between the chrome Hondaline bar you cite and the Cobra and other brand light bars that are steel. I'll let you know how I like mine once it's installed. :)

NetGuru --- Off Subject but how are your pipes doing? Could you re post the drilling pattern. I can't find it -- Do you know if it will work in the C yet. Has anyone tried your drilling pattern on the C that you know of?

The $316. model has the chrome extension bracket that brings the lightbar out farther so that it will fit with a windshield (in my case, the Memphis W/S).

The Difference

NetGuru: The one for $316.44 fits the newer type of Honda custom windshield with the square hole for the headlight. The mounting brackets bolt onto the cable guides and the headlight mount. The $283.95 fits the older custom windshield with the round headlight hole and the slots in the bottom of the windshield. This is a required part for the older shield because the lower mounts bolt onto the light bar. Hope this helps
