The screws holding down the battery cables continuously come loose and I am thinking of puttng a dab of red loctite on them.

Can anyone think of anything wrong with that?

better off buying the correct size 'star' washer ... it provides
enough grip so they don't loosen all the time.

I agree with the washer response. Not saying that loctite is a bad idea in general, but in this case it might be, especially if someone takes it to some extreme (mo is better) and that closes the connectivity between the battery terminal and cable.

I put a star washer on each terminal and never had a problem. They stayed tight until I replaced the battery.

I also liked the idea of the star washer getting a "bite" on the metal surfaces between the bolt head and the battery cable.

I removed the seat and on both positive and negative there were no washers, so I added one on each. Based on your experiences it sounds as though that should do the trick.

FYI: I used a dab of BLUE loctite on mine and it worked fine. RED is virtually permanant, BLUE allows removal of the bolt/nut.
