Has anybody with a VTX1300C with the foot pegs instead of floor boards and drag style handle bar ridden further than 2 hours at a time. July 4th I went to my parents lake house from Houston, about a three hour trip and had to stop about every hour, because my bottom, arms and legs hurt from being locked into one position. I plan on getting a Mustang seat as soon as I can afford it. Anybody else have any tips or suggestions for riding long distances on a C model? Also what are some good risers for the C handle bars?

You should have no concerns on this.
Last summer I did 3300 miles in 12 days.
I did not have floorboards and a stock seat and std handle bars.
I'm one of those guys who actually liks the stock seat.

Riding the C was a pleasure.
But hey, bike fit is an individual thing.

You can always put some crash bars/engine guards on with some pegs on the bars so you can stretch your legs out. As fas a risers, I have the wishmaster risers from George. There are plenty of risers out there, you just need to find a set that you like the look of and function as you need them. Some risers lift you bars more than others and some have more pull back. Just find the riser that will work best for you. Go to a local bike night and see if anyone has a set of risers on their C model and ask to sit on it and see the difference it makes.

I have done several 500+ miles days. Only comfort mod I did was to modify an 1800 stock seat. I would suggest www.meancitycycles.com before you drop half a grand on an aftermarket seat. I think you'd be surprised how much difference that can make.

For risers, the Thinman risers offer more rise than pullback, and the Wishmaster risers offer more pullback than rise.

I did over 400 miles last time home on the stock seat. Not a big fan of the stock seat. Got a Mustang solo ordered with the back rest. I did have some risers I put on. I believe that help me make the trip. I got mine at Scootworks. Easy to put on and looks good on the bike.

Still have my stock seat w/o risers.

I've covered 2600 miles around Lake Superior and up into Canada in 5 days twice already (2005 & 2007) and traveled nine states and close to 3000 or so miles last season in 6 days. The reach gets me a bit sore in the shoulders on some of the longer 600+ mile days, but I just lean back, rest against my T-bag and keep my throttle fingers barely in reach of the bars... Could go for days like that.

:( It seems like there are no comfortable bikes anymore, at least at an affordable price. Even my 97 Goldwing Aspencade, 2000 BMW K1200LTC and my 91 FLHTC Harley had a few issues.

I just bought my 06- 1300VTX-C's a little over a month ago and my farthest ride was 140 miles so far and my rather ample butt was sore the whole time! The "C" footpegs make my knees stick out at an odd angle that hurts my hips and looks somehow crude! I like the handlebars and everything else about the bike so I've started to modify a few things.

I just picked up my Cobra FAT highway bars today and will order the kuryakyn adjustable footpegs tomorrow. I think this will allow me to stretch out quite a bit and vary my foot position. My National cycle two-up windshield was delivered to me today and that will make long trips more enjoyable. My next purchase will be a wide touring saddle, probably a Mustang since I've had their seats before and was happy with the comfort. I find the front forks to be way to soft and they can actually bottom quite easily so I'm going to see if the springs that I kept that were stock in my last Goldwing will fit--if not, I'll increase the spacer size first and if that fails, I'll purchase progressive springs. The rear shocks seem to be okay for now.

The bike as it is absolutely eats up the miles and will make a great touring bike when made more user friendly! Take care! Sam :)

I have an '04' 1300c red.
I have just returned from a 13 day trip covering over 4000 miles.
Trip included ride up Pikes Peak.
Last winter I installed thin man risers. I had no pain in mid back or sholders. With stock seat I new I had been riding at the end of the
day but really no big deal. I was one of the over 70 in the age pool.
Take care and ride safe.

I just got back from a trip, about 500 miles each way. The first day I went 300 stopping only once for gas, didn't even get off the bike and was fine. On the way back after 130 miles I was ready to give the bike away. I was over 90 degrees and no matter how I sat my mustang seat had me burning. I started stopping about every hour and stand or walk for a couple of minutes and I was fine.

HEY GARY, if you ever get that feeling again, let me know! I'll take it!

As a side note to the "long trip question" do you guys put in different low temp plugs in for long trips? The manuel says to but I don't want to have to switch plugs all the time!

Thanks,
Scott

5500 miles 12 days taking a couple days off to see the Grand Canyon. Ultimate Lowrider seat. Kury Iso pegs, engine guard, and grips. Oh and an Ultimate backrest .

I'm headed back out next week with taller bars, cruise pegs, and a sheepskin seat cover..

360 miles on a stock seat and it was killing me when I finally got home. But the bike was still fairly new maybe the seat wasn't broken in good...

I don't mind the stock seat at all either.
The other day, my buddy did let me try out his Corbin seat on his 1800.
I did feel the difference. But for now, I'm sticking with the stock seat!
