drill it with a 1/2 bit 12 inches or so if you want it louder take the mufflers off and go to work on them cleaning them out. Do a search for clayton mod and kiwi mod. Go to the VTX garage link and its all there too.(top of each page.

yeah, I would say drill 5-7 holes of 1/2" diameter in the first baffle and give it a listen. If it's just right, leave well enough alone. if you want more, take the 1/2" drill bit and drill 2-3 holes in the second baffle for a deeper and louder tone. The first we've been calling the "clayton mod" and the second we've been calling the "deep clayton mod". I've recently done the deep mod after having the regular clayton for a year, and I'm very pleased.

Do it in stages though, it's a lot harder to undrill holes.

I' did the clayton mod and was happy for a while then I heard the kiwi mod and wow what a difference. I was alittle unsure of doing it because of the cutting involved, but it turned out to be pretty easy and it sounds great. The online instructions weren't as clear as they could be, so luckily I could ride to see the kiwi who came up with it.
Simply take the exhaust off.
Cut the welds holding the tips on and remove.
Cut the end of your muffler off about 1/3 of an inch from the end including the pipe that comes through it.
Inside you see a blocked off pipe that comes from the front chamber.
Use large drill bits to drill the end cap out.
Cut the original pipe back as far as possible using a dremal.
Then I cut some s/s plates and welded s/s tube to them and welded up the end of the muffler
Reattached the chromed tips and you finished.
Believe me this mod sounds awsome.
I've provided a link to a sound bite and it sounds good but it still doesnt do it justice. This is also a link to the original instructions

In the pic you can actually see the two pipes behind my s/s plates.
