Over the years I've seen various posts here praising the virtures of riding underwear. From what I've read, they're like bicycling shorts, but without the extra padding. Spike mentioned Underarmor. Anyone have other recommendations? So far the best price I've seen online is about $40. Anyone know of somewhere w/ better prices?
Thanks,
Bill

Jimmy Buffett "I don't cut my hair, don't wear underwear"! :D

Last year when I rode to Colorado, (3 days at 450 miles a day) ..
I bought a pair of riding shorts at:

www.aerostich.com

I squirmed in my seat all the way there. On my trip home, I put those suckers in my bag, put on a pair of boxers, and Iron butted it home. To me, I was way more comfortable without them than with.
Your experience may vary.......

Yep, being an avid cyclist I've worm those bike shorts for many years.
They do work pretty good for long trips on the motorcycle as well.

No doubt, if you're not used to wearing them, they do feel kinda funky. But once you break them in they an offer alot of added comfort.

The spandex also acts as a compression short which aides in holding off muscle fatigue in your thighs.

Go to Target, they have the generic underarmour there I think they call it active wear. It is just as good as underarmour IMO, and is only $15 for the shorts. They work GREAT while I'm on a long trip and wouldn't go on one without them!

Hmmmm. I never considered wearing "special" underwear for riding my bike........and I probably never will again.

Are you guys serious? Really? What ever happened to just throwin' a leg over and gettin' to where you need to be without worrying about your how well your underwear performs?

Depends how long you are in the saddle? I prefer to stay as comfy as possible, but then not everyone tours on a sportbike either, as Crew say's "opinions vary"

I like to keep my short trips as challenging as my long rides, so I have a few pair of coarse, unbrushed woolen underwear for the shorter trips. All of a sudden those short afternoon jaunts feel as long as an 800-mile marathon, especially on those hot 85+ degree sweaty days.

Try silk. They not only make you more comfortable, they also make you feel purty. Oh, don't take a leak at any biker bars while wearing them. You might end up exiting on your bum.
