Last years meet and greet had a good turnout and everyone had a good time. Larry's Motorsports hosted the event for us and provided every VTXOA attendee a free t-shirt and all the coffee and donuts you could consume. This year, Larry's is stepping up the giveaway a couple of notches. This year, if you attend the meet and greet, you could ride away with a Free brand new 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic! Thats right, someone that visits Larry's during the week of the Midnight Madness event and Meet and Greet will win an '07 Vulcan 900. How cool is that! :D

More details of the event happenings and goings on will follow, but mark your calendars now for Friday and Saturday the 10th and 11th of August.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone and all the VTX's dominating the parking lot again!

Are we planning this to be an overnight trip (Fri. - Sat. or Sat. - Sun.)? If so, do we have a place that most people will be staying at?

Plans?

At this point, there are no plans except for the dates. Stan always suggests we should do a meet and greet and it just grows from there. I have been waiting to comment until I had some specifics about what will be going on at Larry's so we could plan around it...just like last year. When plans for the bike giveaway were finalized, I wanted everyone to have as much notice as possible so they could attend and possibly win.
As other "Larrys" happenings are finalized, I will post. (It looks like a lot of the activities will actually be on Friday evening) I am meeting with the manager of Hooters in Columbia to discuss a possible tie in for the event. Perhaps we could incorporate a ride there for some food and atmosphere. Regarding plans for our VTXOA group, the slate is clean...so lets toss some things on the table!

Mark;

I'm riding over on Friday. Can you give me the name of the hotel by Larry's?
Thanks. I hope to see as many people as possible. There were a number of bikes from different states, including New Mexico and Nevada last year.

hotels

There are 2 at the Larrys exit, Hampton 573-634-7440 and Comfort Suites 573-636-0300. There is a Fairfield Inn at the mall exit (one exit away) 573-761-0400. However, Jefferson City is not that large and most other chains are somewhere in town.

Xrider1,

If you call the different hotels, see if you can get us a special rate or at least post the rates that you find please. I might also consider riding up on Friday evening and staying the night.

I found a single at Hampton Inn for 84 + tax
Comfort Suites for 81 + tax
I found a signle elsewhere for 55.00 but by the time they added taxes it was 72.00.

I'm going to wait for a couple weeks before reserving. I may take a half day off and ride in early but, if you are going we can ride together.

Poker run route

OK...went out and planned a route for our poker run. 95 miles round trip through Osage river area. Some nice 'twisty' roads. Took me a little over 2 hours. I tried to run at a group ride slower pace (and almost legal speed), but some of the roads where you could see 3 or 4 turns ahead...I just couldn't help myself!
We will pull out at 11am on Saturday morning. There was a nice little 'watering hole' past the halfway point if someone wants to stop for a refreshment. I will have maps of the route available.
When all return to Larry's, we will draw poker hands for the $50 gift certificate. Shortly thereafter, will be the drawing for the bike giveaway. I really do hope that a VTXOA member wins the new 900 Vulcan and has the hassle of how to get it back home!

As always, if anyone has any suggestions...post away.

Thanx and C'ya there,
Mark
