My brother received a letter today that came addressed to 'Resident' followed by his address delivered via the postal system. He lives a half mile away from me so I visit him and my 2 year old nephew frequently on my'05 VTX 1300R. I scanned the letter...(Find it below) Hopefully it is readable. It's pretty funny....

1. I dont have a Harley
2. I am only there during reasonable hours
3. I drive within normal operating parameters
4. My bike rumbles, but there are far louder bikes

Opinions of this thing? :?: :?:

I'm thinking business as usual and if I am ever approached I suppose I'd let them call the police. I don’t know of any noise ordinance and if there is one I am pretty sure I would pass it.

I wouldn't worry too much about someone who isn't intelligent enough to put together a simple paragraph without sounding like a 2nd grader. The template at the top isn't even right.....If I was going to use a template for something, I would make darn sure it sounded right. Trillum Cirle? Will reported to the city? Whole thing looks to be written by a moron. I say you get a gang of ya and ride through the neighborhood makin noise, just make sure you don't stop at your friend's house.....lol. (im joking of course)

I was actually thinking elderly person. If that's the case I'm feeling a tad bad about the whole thing. I would like to know who wrote the letter, and possibly join this committee.

I'd prolly make more noise.

The first thing I did before buying my house was to verify there were not any **** owners ass-ociations attached to it. It was in the country, but within city limits.

After putting my VTXexhaust pipes on, my neighbor told me over a beer that the first time he heard me gunning it up the hill to the house he thought, Who's this ass... oh, it's Mike.

I try to take it easy around the house, it's not always easy.

Well, if you really want you can look up the local laws regarding Motorcycle noise ordinance. If your legal you don't have a thing to worry about.

Other than that you can get your bro to write a letter stating just what you said, your there at normal hours, and do not rev your engine unnecesarilly, and obey all traffic laws and that you feel this is discrimination.

AND secondly, what kind of cheap coward bastard leaves a note instead of bringin the complaint to the front door face to face?

This country amazes me sometimes.

Since they are concerned about his friend with a Harley and you don't ride a Harley, I wouldn't worry about it. ;) If they were really concerned about it, they would have left contact information so your brother could contact them to discuss their concerns. Since they didn't, let them go pound sand.

Looks like the committee is for Trillium Circle and Bittersweet, and they think you live in Bittersweet?

I would make more noise and wait to see who speaks up. It would be easier than trying to figure out who made up the committee.

I'm very sorry that we have to deal with these letters and attitudes. Sounds like at least one of your neighbors hates bikes. If you have baffels in your pipes the police won't do a thing, in fact they hate to get involved it what they consider a civil dispute.

I would ignore it because the person writting the note sounds like they don't want to discuss it.

Leave it alone unless you get an opportunity to talk to the sender and ask why are they so against motorcycles? and address their fears.

The evil side of me would make sure I took a ride of biker friends ( at least 5 to 10 at a time) thru this entire subdivision at least once every few days for the next month or so to force the issue. but I'm much better now.

I would find out exactly what the laws are regarding noise levels as well at what times things have cutoff, for example I believe noise ordinances get tight around 10:00 pm near me. and I would be as obnoxious as possible withing the limits set by the law right up to about 2 minutes before the night cutoff. But thats just me.

Hey Gen Xer, I'm not too far from Eden Prairie--post up on the MN board where your bro lives and I'll see what they think of my Bigshots with ThunderMonsters.

At least they addressed you as "Dear". Is "Gotten" really a word? The way I see it.....F$*% em'. If the police does ever show up, show them the letter so they can get a good laugh too and give the author a ticket for being stupid.

I just had my neighbor come over and tell my wife that he doesn't want me riding or starting my bike betwwen the hours of 2pm-10pm because that is when he sleeps. He also said he likes to sleep with his windows open. My wife told him that there is no way we are going to change our life for his sleep patterns. Never mind we live on 3 acres and there is about an acre and a half between my garage and his house. I guess I shouldn't be to surprised because he also called the fire dept. on me a few years ago because I was having a small fire with some friends and there kids and we were cooking hot dogs and marshmellows. He told me he called them because we were getting ash on his lawn!!! The fire dept. went over to his house and told him if they are called out again for this type of call they would fine him. Some people are just born to be a pain in the @ss.
