Just bought a 2006 VTX1300R. It's got the stock exhaust and is entirely too quiet. Looking for some suggestions. I was hoping to find drag pipes, but they must be elusive. Bottom line, I'm cheap, I need functionality for a damn good price. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Search for slip ons. Much cheaper than a whole system. eBay maybe?
I've heard some people pull the factory mufflers off (leave the head pipes on, please). Theres a clamp about halfway down. Don't know what this will do to your carbs jetting though. You could also measure the inner diameter of the mufflers, and then buy shorty generic mufflers. Way cheap. $20 and up on eBay. Do you need one or two? Haven't seen a stock exhaust in years.

I had JC Whitney mufflers on my X for a short while.
A single wall muffler and chrome turned blue/brownish.
Bro n law had Cobra slip-on mufflers on his 1300
Stock exhaust is heavy and too damn big.
If you had fabrication skills and material you could put a straight pipe
in a JC whitney.
Some mufflers from another brand may bolt on to the head pipes.

Not my VTX with the JCWhitney muffs. Any chrome cherry bombs??
