I bought a new battery from HDL during the last sale several months ago, it has been sitting around the garage. I'm going on a trip this week and was prepping the bike and figured I'd throw the new battery in. Well the instructions state that it should be charged up- well I have no charger. Just how important is this step? I figured new battery fully charged- right or wrong?

For a longer life of the battery you should charge it before using. This is the best thing you can do to prolong its life. Buy a small charger at Wally world, Auto zone or somewhere, only about $15 - $25 you can get a decent one. You do not want to use a high amp charger on the battery. A 1 amp or so for about 12 -24 hours would be you best bet.

The other benifit you will have a charger for future use.
