Hi everyone. I've been riding for years and had to sell my last bike a while back due to a financial set back. Last week my son bought me a 2003 VTX1300. I feel like it might be too much bike for this tall skinny guy but I'm gonna give her hell! She needs a little TLC Also, does anyone know if there is a way to extend the foot pad on the brake? It's been cut in half for some reason

That part is black on my black bike and my red bike, neither has been repainted, just OEM

Very nice! A picture of the cut foot pad might help. Maybe it was added and rather than adjusting brake pedal position they cut it? Weird fix but some people.......

After further inspection, it seems the previous owner replaced the OEM with a shorter on, measures just under 3 inches. I need to find one about 2 x's that length. Also looking for an easy way to find the kick stand. I have been reaching down with my hand to get it started coming down

Welcome from Washington State. The kickstand issue can be fixed with a little bolt on extension that sticks out when the kick stand is in the up position. My bike has one and makes it way easier to fins and put the darn thing down. Not the greatest pic but if you look closely you can make it out. If needed I'll take a more detailed one.

If you are a do-it-yourself kind of rider there are some ideas on this site. I believe TENNX has one that uses a bracket from a carb?. Look at top of the page for full forums list and i think its under 1300 riders or you can use the search function. I have seen some drill and tap their kickstand and red lock-tight a 2 inch shoulder bolt for a kickstand extension.

Where di you get it? I see thousands online but many say they wont work. I would like to avoid ordering several before finding the correct one. LOL

The VTX 1300 left rear engine case is black as the stock color, regardless of the color of the tins. I thought it looked odd to me so I bought a chrome cover for mine (see in older photo of my bike below).

As for the kick stand, I think it's just you needing to get used to it. Once your foot 'knows' where it at it's easy to flip down. I just take my foot off the floorboard, slide it back about 10 inches, and feel for it as you slide your foot against the engine case and downward. The right side of your shoe/boot will need to rest on the top of the stand, then you push down. If you need it, you can install an extension, as sold here:

As for the cut brake pedal, you might be able to mount a custom pedal cover over it such as purchased here:

Lastly, you can see if there is a used stock pedal selling on EBay, or buy it new from an OEM seller such as Bike Bandit. It is expensive to replace stock as new:

Hey BCookus, you can easily improve the looks of your bike by pulling off those ugly 'idiot' stickers from the shaft drive and the left front frame (next to radiator). WD40 will work to loosen them, or sometimes if you heat them up with a hair dryer and lift a corner with a razor blade you can just peal them off.

I am already planning to do that LOL i have a few things i need to improve, like the chrome pealing and who ever waxed it, left a lot of wax around the tail light and other spots. This thing has a led light kit on it that does all kinds of fancy stuff LOL. Might keep them, might not.
